• FADC Students participate in Nutcracker Auditions

  • (Stuart, FL) - With toes pointed and heads held high, students from Florida Arts & Dance Company in Stuart proudly auditioned for a role in the holiday classic, The Nutcracker.

For more than 20-years, FADC has delighted audiences on the Treasure Coast with the whimsical holiday tale of a young girl’s journey with her prince to a delicious land filled with leaping candy canes and sweet sugar plums. Some dancers have been performing in the show for ten or more years, starting as baby mice and later becoming graceful snowflakes.

Once the show is cast, the dancers and instructors work for months to perfect choreography and bring the show to life. “Getting into the holiday spirit begins with coming out to see The Nutcracker.” said Joann Gallagher, FADC President. “Our dancers and instructors are thrilled to engage with the audience and bring everyone together for an amazing cultural experience.”

FADC will perform The Nutcracker on December 14 and 15 at The Lyric Theatre in downtown Stuart and will be joined by guest artists from Russian Ballet Orlando. To provide a positive theater experience for those who may be sensory sensitive or have young children, the studio will present a shortened version of the show called, “The Gentle Nutcracker” on December 16 with subdued lights and sounds. Tickets for all shows go on sale on September 18 and can be purchased at the Lyric box office or at www.lyrictheatre.com

FADC is a registered 501c3 Cultural Arts organization that relies on donations to continue its mission to enhance cultural awareness in the community through quality dance education and provide outreach programs for at risk and special needs children in Martin County.
The Nutcracker show is funded entirely by corporate and community sponsorships. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities and dance classes, call FADC at (772) 288-4150 or log on to the studio’s website at www.FlaDance.org.
